Dr. Kareem Sioufi was born in Damascus, Syria. He graduated from University of Medicine and Health Sciences Saint Kitts.
He completed a clinical research program in ocular oncology at Wills Eye Hospital and a postdoctoral research fellowship year at the Retina service of Wills Eye Hospital.
He is no stranger to the southern charm and hospitality; he completed his general surgery internship at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) followed by ophthalmology residency at Storm Eye Institute MUSC in Charleston, SC. He completed his medical retina fellowship at the prestigious University of Washington in Seattle before joining Woolfson Eye Institute.
Dr. Sioufi held an acting instructor attending position at the University of Washington Harborview Medical Center, the UW Karalis Johnson Retina Center, and the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound teaching residents and staffing retina clinic.
He has published over 40 peer reviewed articles won multiple awards including the Lawrence Yannuzi Atlantic Coast Retina conference, NEI ARVO travel award, Ophthalmology Times Scholar 2018 and 2020, MUSC HELMA research award, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery national Residency Excellence.
Outside work he enjoys live music and loves spending time with his wife and daughter
